Picture of the Month - On The Way to the Summit
|
After being assembled in France, MegaCam was shipped to Hawaii, packed
into 20 crates, and driven to the summit of Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea, which
means "White Mountain", is a dormant volcano on the Big Island in Hawaii.
Its summit is over 4000 metres above sea level, and is the home to many of
the world's biggest and best telescopes, including CFHT. All the
components of MegaCam made it up the mountain safely - MegaCam was
reassembled and installed, and is now being tested.
