"Carbon, iron, gold - where and how are the elements made?"
Dr. Falk Herwig, Dept. of Physics and Astronomy, U. Victoria

Of all the scientific discoveries in the past century, one of the most
remarkable is that almost every atom in the Universe (other than
hydrogen and helium) was manufactured by processes deep in the
interiors of stars. In the words of the song: "We are stardust". This
talk will discuss the processes through which the heavy elements are
cooked, including the remaining mysteries in our understanding of how
the elements are made.
