Back to Nairobi

October 24, 1996

On our last day, we packed the camp for the last time in Arusha. This is the bar/shower/registration facility at the Arusha campsite.

This is our truck "Stella" in which we had arrived in Tanzania and then returned to Nairobi.

Near the border, we were able to faintly see Mount Kilamangaro, the tallest peak in Africa. It is just discernible on the left, covered with snow at its peaks.

As we drove through the countryside, we saw evidence of the very red soil (reminiscent of Prince Edward Island here in Canada). In this photo, the soil has been fashioned into a huge mound by termites. These are everywhere in the mara landscape.

And so ends my saga of two weeks in Eastern Africa.
