I arrived in Kenya on October 10, 1996. Luckily, I had a tour guide to pick me up at the airport and show me about Nairobi. Near the city, we visited Karen Blixon's plantation (she of the movie "Out of Africa"). Warning! One has to pay to go inside but walking the grounds is free. This was the first photograph I took in Africa. After we left her house, we went to The Giraffe House, where one can feed and (if one is very fast) pet some giraffes.
