GIM2D Description

GIM2D is an IRAF package containing the following tasks:

TaskShort Description
C2GIMFIT2DSimultaneous bulge+disk decomposition in two colors using the Metropolis Algorithm
C2GSIMULCreates SExtracted image simulations of simultaneous bulge+disk decomposition in two colors
GSIMULCreates SExtracted bulge+disk image simulations
GASYMULCreates SExtracted asymmetric galaxy image simulations to test effects of asymmetries on B+D decompositions
GSELFUNCConstructs the multidimensional photometric selection function for any science image
GGROUPERDoes all the complex image extraction and bookkeeping for MGIMFIT2D
MGIMFIT2DSimultaneous bulge+disk decomposition to an arbitrary number of images using the Metropolis Algorithm
MGRESIDUALCreates multiple residual images from the output of MGIMFIT2D
GALIMAGECreates a bulge+disk model given any set of parameter values. Useful for simulation work.
GALPARAMComputes basic image moments of an object
GBKGComputes local background parameters
DQFCOMBCombines Data Quality Files (DQF) of an image stack and flags pixels with NO good values in the stack
GBADPIXApplies DQF mask to SExtractor segmentation image
GSCRIPTERPrepares an input file for XGAL and an IRAF reduction script for GIMFIT2D
GREDCHI2Computes reduced CHI2 of final galaxy model fit
GRARTComputes various residual image asymmetry indices
XGALExtracts postage-size images from the science and segmentation images
GIMFIT2D2D bulge/disk galaxy decomposition using the Metropolis Algorithm
GVISUALIZERProvides the user with a simple graphical interface to review the status of the fitting process at any given iteration
GRESIDUALFrom a collection of "postage stamp" galaxy fitting residual images, it creates a galaxy-free version of the original input image
