Stellar hydrodynamics - common envelope

I am interested in common envelope evolution because of two main reasons. First, a number of stellar observations seem to be explainable only in terms of CE evoluiton. Secondly, CE evolution as a particular fate of binary systems play an important role in population synthesis simulations. These in turn can be used to study the evolutionary origin of important stelar phenomena, like the SN Type Ia, novae or H-deficient post-AGB stars, like the PG1159 stars. Currently I am involved in three different projects related to CE evolution (obviously some of these are at a very early stage = planning stage):
